Ett hållbart brukande och tillvaratagande av naturresurser är grunden för det hållbara bioekonomiska samhället. Skogen står för en mycket stor andel av ekosystemtjänsterna, så i ett bioekonomiskt perspektiv är skogen Sveriges viktigaste tillgång.
Ett hållbart brukande handlar om att värna miljömålen, samtidigt som vi producerar klimatanpassade produkter utifrån förnyelsebara naturresurser. Skogen kan bidra med byggmaterial, bioenergi och nya produkter baserade på naturmaterial. Detta kräver samlade kunskaper inom både biologi, ekologi, teknik och ekonomi.
Det hållbara brukandet innefattar även andra värden som finns i skogen. Biologisk mångfald, rekreation och turism är flera inslag som är avgörande för om man kan leva och bo på landsbygden.
En stark miljö med bred kompetens
Hos oss finns en stark miljö baserat på den kompetens som arbetar kring skogen som råvara. Här möts biologer, kemister, maskintekniker, jägmästare, ekonomer och byggtekniker i flertalet

You have applied for and been admitted (provided you have received a positive admission notification for the course) to 4TS, Forest Damage in Sustainable Forestry for Circular Bioeconomy (15 credits), at the Department of Forest and Wood Technology at Linnaeus University. With this letter, I warmly welcome you and provide some brief information ahead of the start of the term.
Introductory Meeting

Scheduled Meetings
We have scheduled lecture time on Tuesdays at 10 to In addition, individual or small group meetings will be arranged as needed (booked by emailing l@ or call ).
Meeting in Växjö: Week 15 (April 7–11).
The program includes demonstrations, discussions, group work, laboratory and field exercises, and a one-day excursion. A detailed program will be published later. We will not be moving through difficult terrain, but please bring warm and waterproof clothing, as well as sturdy shoes.

Welcome to Linnaeus University
You have applied and been accepted (given that you got a positive admission result) to course 1TS, Forest Products ( credits) at the Department of Forestry and Wood Technology, Faculty of Technology. You are welcome to the course.
Introduction
We will uppstart with a brief course introduction on 20 January (). The course contains knowledge on wood anatomy, wood structure; chemical and physical properties; timber storage, handling and durability issues; pulp and paper processes; logging operations, transports, measurement and grading.
Teaching is conducted in the form of lectures, laboratory work and study visits. Laboratory report, wood block exam/assignment, study visit report and sista written exam are different course elements.
Meetings
It is possible to complete all course elements from a distance, no compulsory meeting. On 07 April () laboratory work (Lab hall, building M) and woodblock review (); 08 April () remaining laboratory work (Lab hall, building M) and the wood block exam (). Each student will arrange their own study visit to a nearby sawmill or wood processing industry.
